Step by Step Tutorial: Enabling Sideloading on the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
Before diving into the steps, let’s understand what we’re about to do. By enabling sideloading, we’re giving our Fire TV Stick 4K permission to install apps from outside the official Amazon Appstore. This opens up a world of possibilities for apps not offered by Amazon but still compatible with the device.
Step 1: Open Settings
Navigate to the settings menu on your Fire TV Stick 4K.
In the main menu of your Fire TV Stick 4K, you’ll find the settings option, often represented by a gear icon. Click on it to begin the process.
Step 2: Select My Fire TV
Choose the ‘My Fire TV’ option from the settings menu.
‘My Fire TV’ is the section where you can access all the information and settings related to your device’s system, including options for developer tools and legal and compliance information.
Step 3: Go to Developer Options
In the ‘My Fire TV’ section, find and select ‘Developer Options.’
Developer Options is where you can make changes that affect how the system operates, like enabling USB debugging or allowing apps from unknown sources.
Step 4: Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
Turn on the option to ‘Apps from Unknown Sources.’
When you select this option, you will likely receive a warning message about the risks of installing apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. It’s important to only download apps from trusted sources to avoid any potential security risks.
Step 5: Confirm the Change
Confirm that you want to enable apps from unknown sources when prompted.
After you confirm, the setting will be changed, and your Fire TV Stick 4K will now accept app installations from outside the official store.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll be able to sideload apps onto your Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. This process is the same with ONN Streaming boxes and other devices, too.
